Web Content Management Systems

Hi all,

Could you kindly give a nice startup on web CMS. I am very new to this CMS.

So can you guide me step by step. I dont know how to plan the system.

I do have source code from rainbowportal.net. Now i want to do it on my own.

Kindly guide me.

why do you insist on creating it on your own? There are several community based applications around there from which you can learn a great deal.

You already mentioned Rainbow portal but you could also check out theDotNetNuke application.

Hi, reading up a book of "Building Content Management System" by APress would aid you in the concept of CMS.

Thanks for your reply. I can use it as a template to follow but i am in a state of creating new application for ours. As we can't accomodate third party samples, i must create by my own. Now i want to have the domain knowledge of web CMS so that i can start developing the system right from the scratch. Also can you tell me the process of developing the CMS.

I'm not a CMS specialist but I would encourage you to take a look at theDotNetNuke dedicated forums for more information. I can understand that you don't like third party tools or aren't allowed to use them. DotNetNuke however seems, to me, a valuable platform to start with.
